MORE began its rapid growth in the field of Renewable Energy Sources and electricity trading with the aim of developing environmentally friendly energy sources and adapting to changing consumer preferences considering the climate crisis. Today, however, the development of RES (Renewable Energy Sources) has become an even greater priority, to address the rising cost of energy and finally achieve secure supply and independence of our country from imported hydrocarbons.

Greece, with its high wind and solar potential, is fortunate to have all the prerequisites to take a leading role. It already ranks among the top countries globally in RES penetration, and activity in the sector has multiple positive outcomes.

First, it contributes to economic development, particularly in remote areas of the country that have traditionally lacked opportunities. RES projects create jobs, strengthen local infrastructure, and offer prospects for sustainable development.

Second, it empowers the role of universities and the scientific community, through the strengthening of knowledge fields related to energy technology and markets. These areas are in high demand in the job market, and the specialization developed in our country has already placed Greece on the global scientific map.

Third, the utilization of RES is accompanied by the rapid integration of digital technologies, prominently artificial intelligence, which allows for intelligent management of energy production and storage units. In this way, the technological and digital transformation of the Greek economy is promoted.

However, this transition is not without challenges. It requires the development of modern infrastructure and networks, strengthening investor confidence, and shaping markets that operate efficiently for the benefit of the consumer. Above all, it is crucial that the benefit of cheaper and cleaner energy reaches the local communities hosting the projects in a timely and meaningful way. Strengthening cooperation with these communities and creating mechanisms that directly return the benefits to citizens is a non-negotiable priority for us.

We are facing a unique opportunity: to turn the energy challenge into a catalyst for growth and progress. Greece has the potential to become a model of green development. Through strategic choices, innovation, and sincere collaboration with society, we can create an energy future that meets the needs of the next generation – sustainable, resilient, and fair for all.
