The school year ended differently this year for 40 primary and secondary schools in Karystos, Eretria, Kimi – Aliveri, Ptolemaida, Siatista, Eratyras and Monemvasia.
MORE travelled to these regions and implemented an educational activity on the benefits of Renewable Energy Sources, in collaboration with STEM Education, an educational organization that designs and implements programs that help students of all ages to become familiar with the innovative STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational method.
Through modern educational models based on interaction and active participation, students learn how valuable solar and wind energy is. With the guidance of the teachers and using simple building materials, the children build, among other things, simulated models of solar vehicles, a wind generator and a solar recharging base. In this way, they convert natural wind and sunrays into electricity, such as the electricity we use in our daily lives.
This educational action of a total duration of 3 months started this year and will be completed next school year, aiming to properly inform students about the benefits of using RES on the environment, the economy and local communities, to dispel myths about the impact of RES on the environment and to raise awareness about the importance of clean energy for the future of the planet.
